As the expenditure processing passport applications had gone up on procurement of equipment, reimbursement to police authorities, cost relating to establishment, postal charges and printing of passport booklets had gone up in the last 10 years, the ministry of external affairs has decided to revise the passport fees. The press statement also added that the current fees were fixed on March 29, 2002. The fees for normal applications for Indian citizens living abroad has also been revised to USD 75 (from 40) and to Euro 60 (from 48). As of now, the fees for normal and Tatkal applications are Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,500 respectively. The release said the passport fee for normal applications would be Rs 1,500 and for Tatkal applications Rs 3,500. TRICHY: The revised fee structure for passport and passport related services will come into effect from October 1, 2012, said a press statement from the Regional Passport Office in Trichy.
